I am reading "Golden Eagle" the book about the Farouk 1933 Saint. A very good story.......

............ which I would recommend to all. I particularly like the parts of the book about Farouk, his collecting obsession, his fall, the sale of his coins, the Sting that resulted in the taking of the coin by the Feds and the description of the civil action that resulted in the settlement and 7-30-2002 sale of the coin.

I bet the two attorneys (Berke and Levine) regret (at least a little) not taking the case to trial and doing battle with each other. I also suspect that Levine will defend the new lawsuit Berke filed on behalf of the Switt family.

Allison Frankel's book is actually Double Eagle and I also heartedly recommend it.

I firmly believe in numismatics as the world's greatest hobby, but recognize that this is a luxury and without collectors, we can all spend/melt our collections/inventories.

My mistake in misquoting the title of the book. It is Double Eagle. I just finished the book today. A great read.

    It is a specatcular book.

Isn't that the one that quotes some of the more prominent numismatists that frequent these boards?

Just finished it recently myself. Fantastic book, not just from a numismatic point of view, but also from a historical/political/legal perspective. Very interesting!
