Unc. Rolls 1960 Cents

Hi, in the mid-90's I acquired a large lot of miscellaneous coins at an estate auction. I never paid much attention, however I was going through an old box of them and discovered 3 rolls, 2 from "The Hanover Bank" and one not sure. It seems the 1960 p small date really go up in value at the MS-67 level. Does anyone have any idea about the probability of having a coin or more at that level in a Bank Machine Wrapped roll? Also was the 1960 a weak strike? I see PCGS doesn't have any population above MS67.

I can dream can't I? 150 @ MS-67 x $3000, lol. Personally 1 or 2 would be great and maybe a dozen MS-66.

Thanks in advance for feedback.

    Welcome aboard.

Best of luck. Odds are that there will be many examples if there's one. The odds of MS-67's are pretty low though.

  • I've looked through maybe 12-15 rolls of 60-p sd and have found a handful of ms66's. I've looked through 100's of rolls of 60-p ld and found maybe 25 ms66's. Strike (actually die wear) can be a problem, but sometimes not. Just depends on the state of the die the coins were struck with. I've seen some very beautiful coins, that if it wasn't for one large nick, they would have been ms67. I did get graded one of the 4 pcgs ms67 1963-p's. It came from a gorgeous roll in a tube I bought for $1.50 at a tiny coin and jewelry shop.
