I'd like to know if PCGS really is much tighter on the 70 or if this is just the price of Kool-Aid these days.

Still a nice profit though. Figure $33 for the one coin (1/3rd of the $100 set) and another $30 or so for the grading fees. Seller is into the coin for less than $100.

It's not much of a profit for those buyers at $5K.

LOL I guess you're right on that account. Somehow I was thinking the buyers at those prices were just collectors with more money than sense. Not speculators.
<< <i>Yeah sure does make a difference, it proves you can buy the same coin at half the price. >>
Sometimes that is true, but it isn't always. I wonder if anyone has tried to cross any of these reverse proofs yet. Then again it should be a piece a cake buyin NGC 70's for a grand and resellin em as PCGS 70's at $1500 a pop, no?

Well since giving you a 70 on a RP is sorta like cuttin you a $1500 check I don't think that PCGS is doin it as an afterthought.

As a matter of corporate policy, PCGS will not cross coins graded PR70.

<< <i>I wonder then how many NGC 70's would make 70 at PCGS if cracked out and submitted raw. >>

This one also holds the "first strike" premium
<< <i>While I agree that PCGS generally brings higher prices, I think the real reason for this huge difference is the "First Strike" designation >>
NGC was also using the designation.

but words can never hurt me. Perhaps it
is better to buy the coin as well as the plastic.
If it is a truth that an invester should never fight the Fed,
a coin collector should go with the TPG that is easiest to sell
at the best price. That choice is PCGS. Now, I will go finish my large
glass of Kool Aid.
