Colonial India

Here are a couple of 1936 Indian Half Rupees acquired from two auspicious forum members. I was wondering ..... Did any other European colonial powers (besides GB and Portugal) strike coins for India??

Hey, that second one looks familiar. image I initially got it from another member who is from India, nanda, but he rarely ever shows up anymore. Marvellous reverse toning, they don't usually come like this, most are dipped and baggy.

PS: Another one that has been owned by at least 4 members so far. image

I like the look of your George V half rupee. image

I was tempted to collect George V rupees, but I already have too many irons in the fire. image

I manage money. I earn money. I save money .
I give away money. I collect money.
I don’t love money . I do love the Lord God.

Here is one (MS64) from the neighboring Madras Presidency…. it’s also a frozen year issue AH1172 from the early 19th century. I vaguely recall that while the mint mark is Arkat, it maybe was actually minted in Calcutta… its probably time to look it up!
