why are the jets 9-6?

ill tell you why... smartest draft ever! take mangold and ferguson! take the best 2 offensive lineman in ncaa and this is the results you get!

  • As a Jets fan those were some solid picks, but you to remember that they had a cake schedule. Get rid of Herm the-worst-ever-clock- manager Edwards and insert Mangenius, and you have a team who will be 10-6 after next week image.

kuhlmann - I am definately very happy with the Jets draft from last year. Mangold is having an awesome year and Ferguson has adjusted quite well. Tonight he was matched up with Jason Taylor by himself most of the night. Taylor had one big sack and one tackle for a loss on a running play when Ferguson and the lead blocker got their assignments mixed up but otherwise he did not create much havoc. Pennington was hardly touched. I was curious how the Jets would block Taylor but for much of the night they let Ferguson go it alone.

The Jets schedule while soft at the beginning did not turn out that way.

They finished 6 and 2 on the road with wins over New England, Miami, Buffalo, Green Bay, Minnesota and Tennessee. None of those games are easy road games with the exception of maybe Minnesota. They played Indy, New England and Chicago tough at home.

The Special Teams have been great, and the defense has been very good after about week 5.

Jets are playing smart football and the line has been great, but a healthy Chad Pennington is the main reason the Jets are in position to make the playoffs this year. For all the criticism Chad (weak arm, etc.) endures, there's no question that he does what it takes to win. His record as a starting QB is fantastic and the Jets were lost without him last year.

Had a good draft and a good season and there is no such thing as an easy game in the NFL. One tipped pass, one fumble, a penalty and bingo you lose.

That's exactly right. That's why anyone who thinks they can make money by handicapping and betting on sports games against a bookie...frankly, is delusional.

The Eagles have done this for years, drafting O line and D line players with their high draft picks, and the results are clear - many winning seasons and just 4 points away two seasons ago from winning a Super Bowl. It boils down to ownership and management...it can be hard for a team that is looking for quick results and needs to sell season tickets, to draft a "boring" lineman over an "exciting" QB, WR or RB. But unless a team need is unusually demanding for a certain offensive position, the smart long term move to produce winning seasons is to pick linemen high in the draft.

This is why the Pats have been so succesfull, I remember being at draft party's and hearing the moans and groans after the Ty Warrens, Logan Mankins, Ben Watson's were being picked over "Flashy" type picks in the draft, the game is won and lost in the trenches. D'Brickshaw Ferguson would have been the best thing the Houston Texans could have done for themselves, but instead fell nicely to the Jets.

AGREED 150 % Nobody beats the book. The NFL can make you suicidal if you bet for too long, the picks look easy in the local paper but its the biggest trap going.

The same can be said for Troy Aikman image ,only you get to throw in a HOF running back, Hall worthy WR, the best fullback in the league, and one of the top tight ends in the league...giving Troy one of the most beneficial surroundings for a QB in the history of the NFL.
  • they scored more points than the other team 9 times

Hey Joey : Leon Washington just called.

Wants to know how come just because he fumbled away the game
against the Cleveland Browns in crunch time that those mean old Jets won't let him play anymore when it counts?

crunch time.....I guess you missed the Dolphin game.....he got the ball in crunch time and he ran it down the field on a good fish D. The Brownies
shouldn't of even been in that game. Heck even the Bucs put them away early!

No doubt Leon will become a servicable back in the NFL.

Heck, he could even evolve into the next Carnell Williams ... err ... wait ... that would be reverse evolution.

Down from 3 TDs this season to only one ...

    Florida State

He was a 4th round pick of the Jets in this year's draft.

Leon is turning into a very dependable back. That 64-yard catch and run vs Miami may have saved the Jets season. Don't forget, this guy is a rookie. He's really come on strong over the course of the season.
