Drive By Posters Think the BST Board is the 'Free Ebay'

I still say CU should have a rule that you need a minimum of 100 posts to be able to post stuff for sale or WTB ads on the BST board. This would prevent all the riff raff dealers and others who have no interest in these forums other than making money from forum members from using that forum as their 'Free Ebay'.

There are a couple dealers who have more than that and have never posted anywhere but the BST.

eliminate ebay crap altogether and the problem is solved.

What he's talking about has nothing to do with eBay. He's talking about members who never post anywhere but the BST and there are plenty of those who are not posting eBay auctions, but rather are selling to the forum.

    Here's an example of one.

Almost 1000 posts and he's never posted anywhere but the BST.

I realize what he meant Russ but it seems, at least to me, that most of the people that do that post ebay crap.

I for one would like to see the eBay stuff off the BST. I think I'd use the BST more (as a buyer and seller) if it didn't include eBay stuff.

I agree. Otherwise, rename it to "advertise your Ebay auction forum".

I' might even use it if I wasn't up against all of the non-participant spam.

It might help also if folks that advertise for sale would put a price on it. Rather than open the thread and see they are fishing for offers.
I've seen quite a few of these lately, and honestly I have been interested. But I rarely if ever make an offer when someone has it for sale.
If it's for sale, then it should be priced. IMWO

That forum should only be for the use of Collectors Club paying members. Period!

when you spend $200.00 to join in the fun that is pcgs....doesn't that give you free access to all parts of the boards ?...without restriction?

does anyone know this guy?.....he might be a pcgs power submitter as well as a ebay participant...anyone REALLY know for sure?

    (just playin' devils advocate.)

    who cares?
  • please put a price, a working price, ballpark figure, what your looking to get, something to go off.
or at a minimum some explanation why you have no working figure.
just to say pm with offers. image

Maybe it should be a non-dealer forum.

Well, if nobody buys from them, then eventually they will go away. Meanwhile, it is irritating that they clog the BST.

I had never noticed that the seller in question never posted in the Coin Forum. But I've bought a few decent coins from the guy and look at him as one of the BSTers to pay attention to.

By all means, give me more drive-byers like this.

  • As long as the poster denotes ebay in the title, I have no problem with people advertising ebay auctions. But if they start too many restrictions on it and too many hoops to jump through, they might as well just take the whole thing down. As long as it's on topic and posted in the right section of BST and not a stupid scam I say post what you want. JMO

It's not as bad if "eBay" is in the title, but still, when it gets to the point where there's a lot of eBay chaff compared to the true BST "wheat," using it starts to feel more like an exercise in futility.

I think that links to ones auctions should not be allowed in the BST. I thought it was only for listing coins that you want to sell to members at a set price or for listing a coin that you may want to buy. It should not be used for free advertising for your ebay auctions. JMHO. Bob

I feel that there is an enhanced level of trust on the BST that would stand to be lessened without some restrictions. I haven't given much thought as to how to do that, but I sure wouldn't want the BST to become a open type of "Craigslist".

I'd like to see violators of the one post per day rule to get lengthy "time out" penalties. There's a few on page one today.

Just because a guy has a garage sale doesn't mean he has to have a garage.
If I paid for a membership and submitted coins but never posted on the COIN FORUM, even though I am a MEMBER, why would any other member be annoyed for me selling on the BST ?
I was taught at an early age that , "it ain't no skin off your nose".
I did notice that these boards NEED an opposing opinion, even if it ain't right ! image It gives a thread a chance to make it to 100.

Now post a coin and quit complaining !

Do that and you severely reduce the amount of items being offered for B/S/T.
