Just agree, that I am always right, then you'll never be in the wrong...

In a lot of ways, the relevant segment of the market for many individuals is the one they are in and not the mover and shaker one. For instance, in addition to DMPLs, I do Morgan VAMs and have for many years. Until the The Top-100 book came out, I had little or no idea how many serious variety collectors were out there. I do know the most visible guys didn't know me and that I was one of them. Today, with an attributed market, it is a lot easier to get a feel for the size of the community of serious buyers in condition census VAMs. I know their registry sets, their eBay names, ... and about how many I am bidding against in auction. My concern is with them and how much they are going to value the coins we compete for and not how much the 1933 eagles sell for. It is like the correlation to base metals' futures prices. That isn't to say the larger picture isn't influencing those Morgans; it sure is over time. Laura and her cronies do have a more intimate sense of the broader picture with the whole sale suppliers, top money collectors, guyys who seriously make markets in many different coins, ... I trust her judgement, particularly when providing rationale for it. And when the rarities and nice, correctly graded in demand fresh coins make good numbers at FUN, it will be abundantly clear that the market is intact. Every seller has a buyer and the measure of the market is volume and price, like any other market. If the prices are rising or sustained with buyer interest rising or sustained, things are quite healthy. All I have heard from many collectors with serious money is that they are still eager to buy but finding nice, fresh coins has been difficult. Just a lot of crap spinning in the hobby's centrifuge. FUN might give this a welcomed boost. I know there are hungry buyers, collectors and dealers alike.
