In the Wayne Miller collection sale from January, 1986,
Wayne says this...
"Miller states that the coins dated 1896 to 1897 evedence the most awesome cameo contrast of any of the Proof Morgans."
In that Superior sale, his 1896, which was graded Proof 67
(but not by TPG) sold for $10,450.

Most of the best looking proof Morgans I've ever seen have been between 1880- 1882 and also 1896-1898, with a few really awesome 1893's too. I'd say that 1898 may have been the height of overall quality, there are some really spectacular silver proofs of all denominations from 1898.
