My (3) SAN FRAN OLD MINT Gold PROOF $5 sets arrive today and all 3 coins had popped out of the capsule and were sliding around !!. I made a immaculate reception on the first opening and caught it mid-air to save the coin from a mess. That was one of the dumbest thing I have ever seen. The (3) Silver SAN FRAN OLD MINT Proof sets were ok.

No wonder you can't find the SAN FRAN OLD MINT Gold PROOF $5 on the Mint website anymore!

Needless to say the whole pile of junk went right back to the Mint about 5 minutes ago.

Yes, My proof fell out & hit the table.
One just doesn't expect a coin to jump out of a box like that!

I had the same problem with mine and I sent it back. You would think with all of the returns that the Mint would have done something about this by now.

Had same problem on my Proof. Sent it back for exchange. If new one is no good back it goes for refund and I'm going to buy one on the Bay. The PCGS PR69's are not that much more already graded and all considered.
I STILL can't believe on the San Fransico Coin they are so sloppy.... Don't they know it's in honor of thier mint?????

I sent my proofs back with a letter describing the problem asking for a replacement only if they could assure that it wouldn't happen again.

Of course, the replacements came with coins-a-poppin'.

So I went through and examined them under a loop. What happens, in examining one of the coins, I accidently mar the surface--Ugh!

I wonder what percentage of the mintage is returned.

Sorry to hear about your proof. Mine arrived yesterday intact. The capsule was wedged really tight into the hole and took some effort to get out.
