Toner people, please take a look at these auctions

and see what's up. the coins have nice eye appeal imo. I found this seller by accident
and a lot of his coins look like this. Here's two auctions, a Texas commemorative and an Oregon Trail that
i had been looking at and how i discovered him.
could all of this happened from album toning? I've been watching this seller for weeks and he runs an auction or two a week with
toned coins.

Texas

Oregon

I am by no means an expert, but that looks like it was fried in a pan.

My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 (2003). My son was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 17 on December 31, 2009. We were stunned that another child of ours had been diagnosed. Please, if you don't have a favorite charity, consider giving to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)

The two coins are colorful not because of album toning, but because of artificial toning.

If it really matters, the Texas Commemorative looks marginally less dubious than the Oregon.

  • don't know much about how to spot homemade jobs either bunker.
i figured it too good to be true, but this guy has one thing others don't seem to.

he holds out for top dollar. reserve not met a couple weeks in a row on the oregon.
i was interested in the coin, not paying a toning premium, i was prepared to pay maybe a little less
than a clean one. maybe 115 i thought would be fair.
anyway, he relisted it, bid went to 170 bucks and he still didn't come off his reserve.

Looked at his intro post, can't find anything about an ebay ID. Not doubting, but how do you know?

    definetly match up.

  • Just check out what he buys....Recent purchase? 1935-S San Diego NGC MS 65 Commemorative Half Dollar . Wonder if this will show up as a "toned" coin in a few weeks. Nice racket if you can pull it off. Explains why he sticks to his price, and he is trying to make the margin on toning. Risky business, but shows there are no places people will not go.

i agree with you guys on how the coin toned.
the real kicker ofcourse would be for it to be submitted to a ttgs
and get slabbed some lofty grade.

geez, who knows in this hobby what is market acceptible and what is not.
