Outrageous Jeter Prices

Has anyone elso noticed the incredible prices PSA 10 Jeter cards from the late 90's have been bringing? I'm seeing $400 - $500 for cards that simply boggle the mind. Am I missing something???

  • His prices are insane due to the fact the he is the epitome of what a Major League Baseball Player should be and forever want to be. He's in a class all by himself. 150% all the time everytime regardless of the situation. A total class act and that makes his stuff very desirable. And he does it all while playing for the Yankees.

  • Just look at completed items for Jeter PSA 10. Examples are 1997 Topps Chrome $511, 1996 Upper Deck $407. I mean come on. I know he's great but still........

That is absolutely insane. Those two guys are killing each other. Lot's of cards ended at reasonable prices. I'd chalk this up to a pissing match between those 2.

  • Agreed, but I noticed that in general his prices have been creeping up since midyear.

His cards are doing exactly what I laugh about when working on my Mattingly master set.

A PSA 10 card shows up...the first to be graded...there are 2 or 3 guys that HAVE to be the first to own it so they pay insane prices for bragging rights.

For example, a card that sells for $200 to one of those 2 or 3 guys shows up 5 more times within a couple of months. The first spends insanely, the second almost equally...wait another month or two and the same card can be had for $20 when the 2 or 3 " have to have first " guys are out of the running.

You can't actually give 150%. It's mathematically impossible. The most you can give is 110%.
