First Strike UNC Submission Question

I just saw on another thread that opened boxes are OK as long as they are received by 13 Jan. That much I understand. But what about unopened boxes, submitted subsequent to 13 Jan., which have a shipping date prior to Jan 13 on the label?

Can they get First Strike at ANY time down the road, as long as the box is unopened?

Thanks.

  • My understanding is that you MUST submit the W Platinum Uncirc coins you want slabbed with either
"First Strike" or "10th Anniversary" designations POSTMARKED NO LATER THAN Jan 13!
$10 extra per label for each coin.

In other words, PCGS is only offering First Strike & 10th Anniversary labels for the W PLATINUM UNCIRCS.
After that, you can only get them labeled with the standard PCGS label.

  • Why doesn't PCGS just make a nicer label for all submissions? I'm sure business would boom without charging an extra 10 bucks for your choice of label. Or is that too simple.....
  • The W Gold Uncircs DO NOT QUALIFY!

This member asked PCGS Customer Service. Answer:

<< <i>I spoke with a CSR about an hour ago and the FS™ or 10th Anniv. choice applies only to the MS W-Plats. I ask specifically about the fractional MS W-Golds, and she said they would not offer either for the those gold coins. >>
