ebay 1842 dime found on golf course

Auction description:
"Up for auction is this 1842 Seated Liberty Dime. I am unsure of the quality, I am not a coin person, check my feedback, I am into cars and aircraft stuff.

I found this dime on a golf course green as I was going to putt, someone was using it as a ball marker. It seems to be in nice shape, and yes I did make the putt."

  • That sucks. He should have turned it in to the club house lost and found.

Just think that it's been laying there ever since. They probably built the golf course around the coin, or atleast that's what I would do!
  • If he found it on the green, obviously someone else had used it as a ball marker, and forgot it. Someone is bummed out at losing it, and as a golfer, I heartily agree with Major Duty that it should have been turned it to L&F...the finder/seller of this coin should have known what it was used for. Guys use all kinds of 'lucky' items that small for ball marks and it really makes no sense to me this guy didnt realize it belongs to another golfer.
  • He should have added something about it being haunted and owned by someones gramma during the depression.

That's a nice story, but like anything else on ebay, can you really believe it?
