I've never heard of such a thing, which doesn't mean they don't exist. Just looks like nasty die wear to me.

The leg DOES look weak, but it would have to be verified and attributed as such. JT Stanton may be able to do this.

Interesting coin for sure. I have seen a few dates with a weak back leg like that, but I'm not sure what kind of interest there would be in them. It would be worth looking onto further in my opinion.
