Let the New Vikings Era begin with Tarvaris Jackson!

As a Vikings die-hard I'm banking on the rookie from Alabama State (where is that?) will dawn a new era. This isn't as big as Tommy Kramer taking over for Fran Tarkenton, but more like Daunte Culpepper getting his chance.

From what I've seen he is comparable to Culpepper in many respects. My first indication is that he will be better.

From what I've seen in pre-season and glimpses of the regular season, he will fare better than Brad Johnson and is better than these QBs:

1. Rex Grossman
2. Joey Harrington
3. Chris Sims and that other TB rookie
4. Raiders QBs
5. Kitna and whoever the Lions want to start

I could go on...you get my point...

I'm so confident that I'm going to start him over Matt Hasselback in my fantasy league game this week.

Enjoy your collection!

The Jackson era is off to an awfully slow start. He makes Grossman look like Sonny Jurgensen.

  • He had moments. I think lol.

I aint givin up on him! Vikes killed nearly every drive with a freakin penalty, illigal motion flags were on discount tonight, cant let Favre go out a loser I spose.

Game showed me how really bad a head coach Brad Childress is & how a lack of playmakers we have offensively.

Childress just said on the radio that he put in the same game plan with Jackson at QB had Brad Johnson been in the game. Mind boggling.

I still maintain Jackson will be a solid starter in the NFL...

The Vikings fans on the radio and on message boards are calling for Childress to be fired... A lot of it has to do with his bland personality and has done nothing to endear himself to the fans, local media or season ticket holders. They guy is in over his head.

I'll take Randy Moss & Mike Tice back in a second, over watching Ocho Droppo (aka Troy Williamson) and Brad Vanilladress

I like the New Vikings Era. No offense. You lose Moss and you can only get 3 first downs against a week passing defense.

Just another example of a thread where hope exceeds reality. And another reason why none of our expertise should be taken too seriously here. Better than Grossman image
  • One game irish mike, its not like Brady Quinn where he can't win a big game.

I'm not surprised. I didn't think much of him during his time as offensive cordinator with the Eagles.

When you guys hired him I felt bad for Vikes fans. He stinks.

I read somewhere that they were actually counting on Brooks Bollinger to be the quarterback of the future until he got hurt. Bollinger would be a good fit in the West Coast Offense.
