I use a Lesche for open or plowed fields and a screwdriver for almost everything else.

Where is the best place to get these tools?

I get most of my detecting equipment from my local dealer (Tom at Metal Detectors of Minneapolis). I like to support the local businesses. There's also a few assorted detecting forums about with their sponsors. And there's always eBay.

Lesche rules the detecting digging world. Not only can it dig, cut roots and pry but it's extremely menacing looking and would be just fine for self defense.

Thanks doc. I just did a bin for one of the lesche tools. Can't wait to try it out. Might give my new machine a try tomorrow if it quits raining. I also purchased a hori-hori knife, so I could try them both.

Lesche - You'll love it. Someone once asked me if I could skin a bear with it. Haven't tried yet. But it'll do whatever else you want.
