It's not "condor", it's "conder" and he was one of the more knowledgeable people on the forum...as was coinguy. I have no idea what perpetuated their loss, but it was not a good move. They provided a lot here.
<< <i>The forum is boring now, I miss the likes of Coinguy1 and Conder and Amanda and the others. I hate to say it but I need a premodern forum, sorry nothing against you modern guys/girls just not interested in moderns at all. >>
Realone, I tend to agree. Some of my favorite members have been banned or just disappeared. I find that now I spend much less time lurking and reading posts. I guess I will just have to focus more on work.

It would be nice if the morden folks would hang out on the registry forum since most of the registry is moderns. mybe the folks there would like to hear about "20th annv ase" and "age" and where is my order number and lookie at my prf70's.
<< <i>"I hate to say it but I need a premodern forum"
For sure this place has turned into a "MODERN COINS" forum. >>
That would be a good thing, of course.
It's very early to say that there have been any changes other than missing some great posts by some of those who are gone. The place still hasn't calmed down and a lot of these "modern threads" are the result of things going on at the mint and are completely independent of recent events.
There's no reason not to start threads. Most of mine sink like a rock.
It's simple - people are excited about making money right now - no big deal. It will wear off very soon.
That said, I wouldn't mind a sticky or two at the top until it dies down a bit. One submission/mintage related and one order #/shipping date related. For the ASE and the Plat. stuff combined.
I better add a he he ha ha better not do the Heh heh as some take that as being sarcastic. (heh heh) >>

I really don't see what the big deal is about it. It's just like a he he ha ha whatever. I even have it by my Beagle Boy in my Sig line. And I certainly am not being sarcastic about him. I know I can trust him. (Heh heh) If their is a Gawd, these guys are the best thing that was put on this earth IMO. OK, getting OT here.

Ever throw a party ? Inevitably someone always gets stupid and ruins a good time. This place is no different. It's evolving.
Miss the association here with a few noted folks. It is good to see people generally being very good about the rules. Before we would have had a long thread on the 2007 submission policy and I noticed none. Good. There are honest discussions of coins and that is also good. Overall, I thionk it is moving along ok but it isn't as good of a party without the others around.
Julio I went with some deserved, some didn't. Don't think things have improved in the quality of posts. Glad to see alot of the bashing and negative thoughts/comments go away though.
<< <i>might as well get a post in before the thread is deleted.

I do love coins and the world is a better place because of them. Then someone comes along and punches a hole in them. People are like coins, too , except we have feelings.
Although I am open minded about the topics that can be posted, yesterday I just could not get excited when almost every thread on page one was about bullion. Of course, not every thread needs to be a heavy duty thought provoking analysis of some aspect of numismatics, but posting shipping dates from the mint is a little too much. Overall, I don't think this forum has the pizzaz that it had before. I am not sure if that is because we lost a lot of highly regarded members, or whether it is just the time of year (no big coin shows/news since approximately Thanksgiving). I will wait and see what happens once FUN rolls around and there are more coin topics to discuss. So I will keep an open mind about my views of the forum.

I think you might have misunderstood my comments. I did not suggest that bullion topics be eliminated from discussion. Personally I do not find them interesting, but others do.

the overall gist of your "open minded" post seems to be that if things change after the F.U.N. Show you'll be happy, if not, you'd like to see a change.
perhaps you should change yourself and not the forum, which seems to be working just fine for most members. i would suggest that all who are just so unhappy with everything here form their own forum or get one of the bigshot dealers to host one where things can be regulated to suit you all. i just can't understand all the whining, it's quite childish.

Personally, I think it's been a mixed bag. Some people got what they deserved, since they were essentially asking to be banned. I thought the banning of Conder and Mark was unnecessary, though, and it hurt the forum. On the other hand, a lot of the contentious, argumentative people leaving has made the board a more positive place -- even if that's made it a little more dull, in some ways.
As far as all the bullion threads: I don't have a problem with it, since anyone is free to post a classic thread if they want to. I think there's just some excitement about the mint offerings coming out soon. On the other hand, I don't consider bullion collecting to be the same as coin collecting. Once you're more concerned with the metal content than the design and condition, you've left the realm of numismatics and you're just collecting disc-shaped pieces of metal, IMHO.
If you haven't noticed, I'm single and miserable and I've got four albums of bitching about it that I would offer as proof.

a little background on me: I've been submitting only two years of my life. I heard about David Hall before I heard about PCGS. I'm nearly 52 yrs old. I know a love fest and the 2006 Plats aren't what we call BULLION, per se..., my first strike was at Chicago & Northwestern Railroad and people said I'd be a SCAB if I went to work across that line. Hype can be a good thing if you're selling coins while it can be expensive if you're buying them... I never sleep on the job and I LOVE U.S. COINS, nothing is lacking " TO ME".
The forum is a great place for our points and our counterpoints. I have tried to start many COIN RELATED threads. Some guys are showing their true selves , but are wise to the game I think the forum is cooooooooooool, like the COINS that created this place.

Agree with Keets, some of the folks that got banned deserved it. One made some stupid comments and deserved to be banned. I think this was his second time, too. Some think they're too big for their britches.
