A little something extra in DSL Sports Christmas stocking

1966 Ron Perranoski

This card is a 1/4 in PSA 9 (no 10's). There have been 3 sold on E-Bay in the last 2+ years. One sold in November 2005 for $709, (1/1 at the time). For all of the overpriced cards I have bought I got one January 2006 for $261 (1/3 at the time) and seems to be a bargain as everyone else must have been asleep.

This one was a whopper.

The L/R centering is a little distracting, to me.

I am sure it must be a great card.

It's a nice card - could be centered a bit better - but since there's only 4 on the planet - right now - it musta been a "Registry Gotta Have It!"

I wish I could afford to spend that kind of money on a common.

Do you have a scan of your card?

Do we know the person who bought the card?

    Merry Christmas

Whoaaa Sparky, I'll have you know that Ron Perranoski played his college ball at the greatest college in all the land, that being Michigan State University, so you best be backing off. And it's Mr. Perranoski to you.

Amen, brother!! I think it is not bad for a PSA 9, I have seen worse cenetered PSA 9s from the 84 Donruss set.

sorry i don't have a ready scan. i keep cards like that in the safe deposit box. i guess i am one of the paranoid ones on this board in that respect. after hearing of a fire and burglary to other board users, i guess i would rather have it safe than be able to look at it on demand.

i believe perranoski was also a dodger pitching coach under lasorda. as far at it being a scarce card it has a weighted value in the 1966 set higher than kaline, brock, gibson or stargell. i know weighted values are VERY subjective, but this card is a tough one. i don't think $1000 tough. i know the buyer is a big dodger collector.

ron has an error card in '69 set, i think he was traded from dodgers to some other team????

the error variation has the emblem on his dodger hat showing, versus the air-brushed out version.

    go RON

In my opinion, a sharp 9 and a stronger price on a tough card.
I sold an 8 of this card once for $150 on ebay.

    stone,
you made me get off my lazy butt and go to my safe deposit box to check on my perranoski. too be honest not much different from the one that just sold. mine is not perfectly centered either. i didn't bring it home to scan. at least mine was about 75% less than that one.

    Ron who?

One of the best pitching coaches of all time. See Dodger's during the 80's. Made guys like Tim Leary, Tim Belcher, Orel, etc... look like HOFers!
