Need a little help with a NARU'd ebay seller

I won a bowman sterling fb box in early sept on ebay, believing that the rookie autos were numbered up to 99. Ha!
Got it on pre-sell and paid via paypal. A couple days later, I get a partial refund for my payment. The seller said he was having trouble with paypal and wanted a personal check for most of the balance of the $290 I paid. I reached him by phone at the time (since he explained his story this way to me) and seemed like a decent guy.
I emailed him in late November. No response.
I checked his ebay id: no longer a registered user. Uh-oh.
Called him a few times afterwards and finally reached him. He said he'll get them by Friday (as in December 8th).
So as of today, still no Bowman Sterling fb box. I left him a message a couple days ago, no response, keep calling and got his answering machine.
He happens to be a big Beckett store seller and has a well-established store on that website (64K items listed). I emailed him at the address he provides via his store as well as the one we had originally corresponded to get the check info and mailing addresses squared away.
If I still don't hear from him by tomorrow, I plan to email him to let him know I will be taking action such as posting all over the Beckett message boards not to trust him and the better business bureau in his state. I have his mailing address as well via Beckett so I don't think this will be difficult.
Any advice on a different plan of action or in addition to what I plan to do?
I'm tempted to place an order for $300 in his store to get his attention but I don't think that will work in my favor.
