Official "Show Off The Best Of Your Collection" Thread
This is different than the "mail" thread. This thread is to show off the best of your collection. Whether it be a card, set, piece of memorbilia, or an autograph; whether it be a recent purchase or something you have had for years and years; whether it be vintage or modern. This is a thread to show off your "keepers".
I start this thread because I just found out some information about my 2006 Albert Pujols game used autographed gloves (pictured below). Yesterday, I emailed the Pujols Family Foundation and asked them if they were going to offer anymore game used items. The assistant director emailed me back and said that they are not going to offer anymore game used items in their online store. They will only be offering game used items at charity auctions that the foundation hosts. They will still offer autographed items, just not game used. Also, she said that Pujols doesn't do like many stars do. She said that she knows of one superstar that changes jerseys after every home run and then sells it for his own profit. Pujols rarely changes jersery or batting gloves, for that matter.
I also asked something else. I asked how many 2006 versions of his batting gloves were sold through the foundation. See, I bought these online from their store in May of 2006. They were offering 2005 game used batting gloves from his MVP season. I happened to be on the website when they were offered and bought a pair. Come to find out, they sold out in 15 minutes. I got really lucky. A week prior to that, I had personally talked to the director, Todd Perry, about these game used gloves and he said that they would be offered sometime that week and he said that he would let me know when they would be offered. Well, he called me a couple of days later apologizing to me saying that the webmaster put them on the website before he knew it and they sold out in 15 minutes. They only had 9 pair from 2005. My payment had already went through. Apparently they received payments for 10 and only had 9 pair. He said, "I tell you what I will do. I will get you a 2006 pair." It took a few months, but I now have them. Now, back to how many from 2006. After emailing them for confirmation, they emailed me back saying that I HAVE THE ONLY PAIR FROM 2006.
So, bottom line is that they will not be offering any more online and I have the ONLY pair from 2006. Sorry for the long story, but I thought it was neat how it worked out. Here is a picture. Now, show off the best of your collection.

Is that all of your stuff in the link in your signature line? Pretty impressive. Post some pictures of your best.

On October 12th against the Sharks he scored his 500th NHL point on his second goal of the game as well as breaking Gretzky's team record moments later for the quickest hat trick in Oilers history.
I was at the game which was the greatest I've ever attended.
Photo I took of him wearing the jersey after the warm-up.. the game he was injured in..

I'm going to show off my Vezina, it's not my most valuable piece but it's my first card and I've owned it since I was 12.
Also, the reason I bought it was just to show it to my cousin. Paid $15 bucks.
I did lots of the damage on it myself
<< <i>Since you were 12?.. heck, are you living in a nursing home? >>
Heh heh, I should be
I bought the card at a comic store in 1978, I might have been 11???
Nothing new here I guess, this is the same card I show off for every thread
Have to look for scans of the cards, they are both nice.
<< <i>Was he wearing "your" actual jersey in that picture? >>
Yep
Fantastic Vezina you have there nightcrawler.. that's pretty cool that you've had it since 12 years old.
Sweet looking '53 Howe Ladder, one of my favourite cards of all time that I'll own one day.
I hope to own both of those cards one day with similar eye-appeal hopefully!
My favorite hockey item.
<< <i>So, Is this Poohole guy a ballplayer or what?.. Congrats

I'm just curious - are you also posting as fdnyladder7?

Thanx Garret.
I missed that - I thought they looked like the same person.
Merry Christmas

Congratulations on the Pujols gloves! Only thing I have is an auto bat - not GU or anything. Wish I could afford a GU bat.
Ya know - I really don't have an item that I would call the "centerpiece" of my collection. I have never paid a lot of money for anything. I'm one of those guys that has a lot of little stuff I guess.
If down the road, I can afford a nice T3 Cobb? I think that will be the center.
Merry Christmas

A PSA 8 (possibly 9) '58-59 Bobby Hull rookie would be great to show off these days
<< <i>This thread just saddens me. I really nothing that I'd consider really "best". Every time I see a thread like this, I'm reminded of how much I lost when my house was broken into years ago.

That's sad Brian.
What are you collecting right now?
mike
I'm actually a casual collector now and not really hardcore like some of you guys.

I've always loved the Mother's Cookies cards, and these being the "rookie" cards of these two great SF Giants players makes them even more cool. Both were submitted back in July. The Clark is currently pop 1, the Williams is pop 2.

I can beat those Pujols gloves! How about Ken Griffey Jr.'s helmet from the 1994 All Star Game?? One of my most favorite pieces:
Another favorite piece in my collection is Andruw Jones' batting gloves that he wore in the 2005 Homerun Derby:
