I purchased this 1881-S NGC MS-63 Morgan Dollar (2-Sided Toner) at auction today, and think that it should look quite pretty in hand...

Interesting toning . I wouuld guess it will be a bit darker in hand . image

edited to add; This type of toning is great to look at in natural sunlight . image

Well, it's got an interesting look to it. The picture look like it has too much red in
it. I'd be real interested to see how it looks after you photograph it.

This one looks toned, prooflike, and frosty all in one. Nice looking and interesting Morgan, Stuart image

Thanks to those who posted their comments about my new 1881-S Toner. This one should be fun to receive and to inspect. image

I like the original pullaway toning around the letters on the periphery of this example. The orientation of these toning shadows imply to me that this coin was likely stored vertically in a brown envelope for quite a while.

That looks like a coin I have been seeking for a long time. VAM-54. Leroy only shows the break on the eagle's breast in the update, which might not be on all examples too. What got my attention is the crack from the denticles through the D and mintmark. Of course that could very well be just a toning illusion too.

Would you have purchased this 1879 PCGS MS-64 Morgan Dollar from the following original auction photos?? image
My new photos (Top) and Original seller's photos (Bottom) for comparison.

The coin has strong underlying Satiny to Semi-PL very strong cartwheel luster that really lights up the attractive red, orange and blue toning when it is rotated in the light. image
