this guy runs downhill like a freight-train...never wanting to be tackled...you can see the difference in a RB who wants to get 5 yards and avoid a hit and one who wants to go for a TD every time he touches the ball....the difference is marion barber vs edgerrin james...the eagles should have drafted barber big-time!!!!

I think there's a trend not to give rookie running back the vast majority of carries any longer. It used to be rookies would consistently come into the league and put up monster numbers. Now it seems in the last 5 years that their carries are held back or they don't even start at all.

EDITED TO ADD: He's a Gopher. Gophers don't earn respect. See Laurance Maroney. He's clearly superior than Corey Dillon, but rides the pine. Barber, while not a rookie --- should have been playing ahead of Julius Jones since he entered the league. Another spurned Gopher.

    ????

Marion is not a rookie. So I'm confused as to the rookie stats.

Barber is a stud and a workhorse. Parcells seems to start Jones just to be dimplomatic, watches him get his 2 yards per carry, then brings in Barber for goal line and second half work.

I haven't checked the stats, but if you looked to see who gets the most fourth quarter carries, I wouldn't think it would be close. Barber is in the game when the game is on the line. And for good reason.

You are absolutely right. Jones is good but I think Marion should be the starter and Jones should be the change of pace guy. Marion would be a starter on any other team.

It's in Parcell's contract as part of the management's requirements. Anyone with the last name of Jones must start every game.
