  • Drew is probably going to opt out of his new contract anyway, what with the Vernon Wells deal. image I'm kidding. But it wouldn't surprise me.

Yea that would not suprise me one bit, with any Major Leaguer for that matter. I say Wells was overpaid but the way I feel about Drew, he was WAY overpaid. I hope the deal falls through anyhow but I doubt it unless there is a problem with his physical which remains to be hush hush if there is.
  • MLB.com says it has to due with his shoulder and the Sox want a second opinion and change the contract to incentive laden pending the outcome.

That's been the word around since late last week, but I would expect them to still sign him - with some type of escape clause in the deal in case he gets hurt and can't play.

We're not the Yankees, you know. image

He broke his thumb attempting to sign the contract. Should be OK by the time spring training comes around. Then again, he might break a rib getting beaned by the automatic pitching machine. Spring training can be rough.
