Dad going under the knife

The guy that got me into the mental state i'm in collecting cards, just called to tell me, he is going in for triple or quad bypass on monday. My dad is 73, and is as stubborn as i am when it comes to going to doctors or buying cards. The stints have pretty much failed. He called me up tonight and said he was calling the important people in his life.
I am flying down to Pomona,CA, tomorrow. If it was serious enough for him to call me tonight......Instead of our usuall hours on end sports calls to each other every saturday morning..then it's serious.
I'll put up a health report monday afternoon.

    When he heals, which he will because we are believing for that, I have some healing scriptures that I would be glad to send you if your interested. It just amazes me how great God is! You have alot of people praying...........

    Thanks for prayers. If my PSA Cards come before my flight tomorrow afternoon, they are going with me so we can crack the box of 100 cards and enjoy together. Somebody had a thread running a while back "How do you know your addicted to card collecting?"

    ANSWER
    When my dad is being wheeled into the operating room saying " how did this not get a 10!!!

    This kind of news puts things into perspective--we all enjoy collecting cards, but we also have real life worries. Obviously what goes on in our families takes precedence over any hobby we do.

    Go see your father and be supportive of him. I don't know how affective he is, but your presence is something he greatly appreciates whether he expresses it or not. All you can do is lift his spirits and it would certainly not hurt to share your submission results with him.

    Carew.....I had the same fate back in 1989 when my Dad had quad by-pass. It all worked out great and Dad has walked 4-6 miles 3x a week since 1990, hell le's in better shape than I am. I wish you the best and remember that by todays medicine standards heart surgery is pretty routine and you will see a different Dad a few months after the surgery.

    Made it in last night to Ontario Airport with no problems. Of course my box from PSA did not arrive in it's usual fast time. Usually i wait 45 working days and get my cards back in 2. Now that they graded them in 6 days, do i have to wait 39 working days to receive them?? Geeez!!
    My dad is definitely moving a little slower than the "workaholic" i knew for so many years. I still brought some of my Gems to show him as well he showed me some of his recent buys. He found a blazing MINT set of the 1936 S&S game set (complete) including the board and pegs.
    WOW!! He recently picked it up in Las Vegas on a business trip.

    Well today we will be couch potatoes watching football all day. Nothin' better( except a Chiefs win over the Chargers!) Thanks again for the kind words and i should have an update sometime tomorrow night.

    Good News!! Doctor's didn't have as much to do as first thought. On their exploratory operation they were able to eliminate open heart surgery and did some heavy duty angiograms. They did have some up extra work to do on two valves and believe it all can be treated from this point with medications. The EKG done on thursday looked 10 ten times worse than what they saw inside. They are releasing my dad any minute now. Amazing!! Nothing like playing around with a guy's heart for several hours and then saying, "o.k. you can go home now".

    My PSA box arrived today up north as well. So when i get home tonight, cards will be going out tomorrow to a few guys on the board here.

    best wishes and super fast road to recovery sir!

    my dad died of cancer 5 years ago, at his home w/ dignity. even when he was really sick and pretty out of it, he refused to go to hospital and be stuck in that sticky, sterile joint!!!!
