"Buy the plastic"

The auctioneer for the Oct. Torex auction was The Canadian Coinoisseur (M. Walsh). His Dec. 1
newsletter recapped the auction and included the following.
"Another interesting example was a 1926 Cent in ICCS MS-63 Lustrous Brown which went for $240
to the same bidder who had bought the piece as Brown Uncirculated for $78 as Lot 544 in my
February Torex Auction, then returned it, saying it was not Uncirculated."

The way I see this, it was very unprofessional of Mr Walsh to make fun of his customer in his newsletter. He could have shared the story with other dealers or friends in private, but the idea to print such a thing was very unfortunate, even as an indirect way to advertise his grading skills.
Was lot 379 among the interesting ones too? Because it really went for peanuts,a common date but in a wonderful state of preservation.

I couldn't agree more with Dimitri. My first reaction upon reading this is I would never want to do business with Mr. Walsh. (Not sure I'd want to do business with the buyer either, but that's a different matter.)
I mean the bad part is that the buyer was entitled to his opinion, but then to recant and pay 3x the price on rethink based on its new plastic encasement is absolutely ridiculous - this pretty much confirms what the Brits, for example (and not to mention many of the rest of us) think about the bad part of TPG grading.
Well, just Love coins, period.
did not recognize the coin. Ignorance being bliss, perhaps the buyer still doesn't recognize
the coin and is quite happy,......but I doubt it!
