What If....the US Stoppd Circulating $1 Coins
I was recently at my bank and I asked the teller if he had any $1 coins. He had 3 Sacs and 2 SBAs in his tray. He told me that the vast majority of bank customers do not want the $1 coins and refuse to take them. He only gives the coins as change to people who specifically request them. People have also mentioned that the USPS is replacing stamp machines that return $1 coins as change with machines that take credit/debit cards.
So I got thinking, who would notice if the US stopped circulating $1 coins? What areas of commerce would be impacted? Or would it be like a tree falling in a forest with no one to hear it?

Whenever I can I get a few rolls to spend them. In many cases I see the tellers put them aside and when ask they said they save them because they are rare.

Get rid of that expensive dollar bill and they would be forced to use the coins. They'd grumble at first but within a couple of years wouldn't really care.........

I agree
I'm waiting for the day we all have chips implanted in our hands that store our credit and debit information on them. When i go to the store and buy someing, i put my hand on a reader and the amount is deducted.
