Zambrano not offered a contract by the Mets.

That makes the Kazmir deal a total, complete, bust (as if we didn't know already).

Wow, I'm surprised they didn't tender him a contract. If he's healthy and ready to pitch by opening day as his agent claimed in today's paper, he'd be a relative bargain at 2.4 million in 2007, especially considering the state of the Mets pitching staff right now.

The Mets are going to regret that Kazmir deal for the next decade, or more. I remember the day of that trade, I was listening to WFAN (NY sports talk) and I have never heard so many unhappy callers venting about the trade. What were the Mets thinking?

Zambrano has been effective, when healthy, for the Mets. I am surprised also that he wasn't given a contract offer.

I don't wish to hear about Kazmir. I wish he was in the Mets organization -- he's another Red Sox killer!
  • The deal was a bad one for the Mets, no question. But I'm getting tired of hearing how great Kazmir is. He has yet to pitch a full season without injury. His numbers are not THAT good. Kazmir's constant arm troubles worry me. I hope he has a nice, long successful career, but his arm problems make me think it might be a short one.

It seemed everytime you tuned around Zambrano was on the DL. I dont see this as a big loss. Someone will step up and take his place and will most likely be more consisent.
  • Mets mentality; trade away THe NEXT BIG THING for scrap.

Zambrano should be hired to help out in the lockeroom washing jockstraps by hand.

Ive always theorized that the Mets thought they were getting the GOOD Zambrano image whoops. should have kicked the tires first.

  • I haven't been this happy about the Mets getting rid of a player since they said sayonara to George Foster.
