PCGS must be getting a lot of World Coin submissions

or all the modern US Mint coins are keeping the graders busy. In the past week or so the World Economy turnaround time has gone from 35 days to 50 days.

Current Approximate Turnaround Times

World Economy Service: 50 business days

I guess my Canadian coins that include some beautifully toned Cased Dollars won't be ready until after the first of the year.

That would tend to make one want to submit elsewhere, n'est-ce pas?

Yes, but elsewhere doesn't have TrueView images.

I just received the confirmation that my ANACS submission has been shipped back to the dealer. 5 coins - World Economy submission - total turnaround 4 weeks.

Can't wait to see the fate of my first submission.

No judgements involved, but what do you use the truview images for - copy and print for records? Just wondering. Their turnaround times have dissuaded me from submitting potentially many more pieces.

If selling the coins on eBay, I use them in the listing. If I'm keeping the coin, I use them for show and tell. For an additional $5/coin I feel the price is very reasonable.

  • They are indeed some outstanding images, most other TPG have pretty long wait time as well

My last submission was 2 coins. PCGS shows Date Received: 9/13/2006 Date Shipped: 12/8/2006. Maybe they need to hire some additional World Coin Graders.
  • How does it work? If at the time you submitted your coins the turn around time is 35 days, and now its 50 days. Do you get your coins back in 35 days or 50 days?

Anybody know the latest turnaround times for world coins at NGC?

Not sure of exact number of days but it is likely in the range of 22-28 days.

NGC is listed at 20 working days. I find that their actual turnaround is quite close to what they post.

Well I guess mine that was received on 11/7/06 won't be ready until February now. Who knows when I'll get the submission received on 12/8/06.

I just got back a batch from PCGS in about 40 days. But it included Veterans Day and Thanksgiving and the Baltimore show.

I did get a crossover submission of 10 USA-Philippines coins and 1 U.S. Seated Liberty dime back quicly. Date Received: 11/9/2006 Date Shipped: 12/4/2006. However, they were all submitted at the US Economy service level. I'm glad the USPI coins can be submitted as US coins!

I hope so! My 11/20 submission is still in the "Received" state!
  • My world regular was received on 10/26 - still haven't seen an update. By my count I'm at 28 days now, working in the holiday and two show schedules.

Without exception, every submission I've done with NGC has languished in "Received" until the last day or two of the expected turnaround, at which point it literally raced through all the remaining stages. Others here can back that up as well. I think they have a lag in their posting of status online...

You've seen the coins before, but I'm always happy to show them again. I sent three of the four shown in this image for crossover and they all crossed. The Fifty Centavos didn't make the trip to Newport Beach. I may send it later.

    Wow - great Philippines set!
  • FilamCoinsFilamCoins Posts: 1,899 ✭✭✭

Oh! It's that set. Yes, I've seen it before and will never tire of seeing it again!! I didn't realized they were slabbed by another TPG. Remind me again, is this an originally matched set or did you piece it together one by one???

  • USAROKUSAROK Posts: 887 ✭✭✭
I pieced it together one by one. The ten centavos was from Ray Czahor of Cookie Jar Collectibles and the other three were from eBay. All were in NGC slabs when I bought them.
