Home Sports Talk

Its must be "we believe" week in Philly

It happens every year. Philly fan starts out so proud of their team, yelling that they are great...knocking off the Brownies or
Niners...talking smack...then they go on skid, and lose a bunch of games and their QB goes down and then they cry that their
team is done, and Andy Reid is fat blah blah blah...and then there is one week they get a win (barely) and they come on and
say their are back.....you all know how this ends!

    Andy is just robust. image

    Two things for sure:

    1. The Eagles have a chance to win a Super Bowl this season and the Bucs are now mathematically eliminated.

    2. Next season Andy Reid will be the head coach of his current team and JonBoy Gruden will not.

Jeff Garcia has been to three, count 'em three Pro Bowls. How many has Romo been to? How many has Eli been to? How many has Rex been to?

Was he a pro bowler his first year? If I remember correctly he made it to the NFL in 1999. I am pretty sure he didnt make the pro bowl till 2000.

Comparing pro bowl appearences between a guy(Romo) that has only started a half dozen games to guy that has played 7 years doesnt make much sense

It absolutely makes perfect sense in the context of getting to a Super Bowl. I'll take a three time Pro Bowl quarterback over a "green" rookie anytime in having a much, MUCH better chance of getting to a Super Bowl.

Garcia's pro bowls 2000, 2001, 2002. He obviously has some talent but his 3 pro bowls were a product of a good team around him. What has he done since, besides being an NFL vagabond?

Can't argue with that. But it's obvious Garcia is playing well and only time will tell if it continues. But right now, at this point in time for this season, I'll take Garcia over Romo...and it's an easy call.

Listen to Philly fan, counting pro bowls! LMAO....I guess when you can't count rings, you have to count Pro Bowls...don't the players
get a lay with that? So I guess Garcia has 3 Lays...

The only thing the eagles need to count, is how many donuts Andy Reid is putting in his pie hole. Those don't grow on trees you know!

    Sincerely,
The guy waking up at 5 am cause its time to make the freaking Donuts cause Andy will be here in an hour

Not that I'm sold on Romo but in his defense, if he would have started from game 1 playing like he has and continued it all season, like he's done so far, he would have a good shot at the Pro Bowl right now. I actually voted for him when I cast my ballot, and I'm no Cowboys fan, I just think he's earned it.

and Romo will? He was an undrafted free agent that no big college even looked at. He had his moment in the sun, and now it is dusk ....

Joe, I know that you secretly are an Eagles fan but they break your heart constantly and you deal with it another way. Fine by me ...

Are the Eagles going to the SuperBowl? Nope. But this is what being a fan is all about -- Hope. One never ever knows.

I never said Romo or the Cowboys were going to the super bowl this year. I hope they do but I wouldnt bet on it.

Garcia is a Canadien league reject that couldnt even make the roster on any NFL team. He had to go to Calgary.image

He is on his way out of the leauge. If he is not out in the next few years he will be a backup the rest of his days.

I would rather have Romo 10's over then to have Garcia in a Cowboys uni.

By the way its not even close to dusk, Romo will only get better and better

I am sure you hope he does.

My take is that he caught lightning in a bottle. He was not talented enough to go to a big school, went undrafted, couldn't beat out Quincy Carter or Chad Hutchinson, then replaces Bledsoe and has a very nice run o'games. Yeah, I guess I would say he is the second coming of Montana as well.

  • Who gives a rats a$$ if he went undrafted

Rod Smith, Antonio Gates and Kurt Warner made out pretty good considering they were not drafted

The guy has talent and with experience will only get better unlike Donovan Mcfragile who's abilities on the field have been declining and thats if he can even stay on the field nowadays

I was waiting for the Warner reference .... Kurt could throw the ball. Romo can't.

  • Romo can't throw the ball ? Wow .

Did you see the throw he made to Witten against the Giants to set up the winning f.g ?

The guy has shown all year while he's been in there that he has the arm and the accuracy to play qb in the league.

The question for him is his judgement and limiting his mistakes

Good story for Romo thus far, I just don't think he is that good.

Again, I never said he was the second coming of Montana, that would be you that said that. He is good and he has talent. Alot more talent then that has-been playing qb for your eagles. Its a shame that your hatred for the Cowboys blinds you to the fact that Romo is a very good qb. He is still learning the game, did you forget that? Wait till he has some experience under his belt and Im sure you will be singing a different tune.

Matt, let me clarify -- the media made him out to be Montana, not you. I recall Madden, amongst others, saying how he reminds him of a mix of Favre and Montana .... gimme a break.

    Cool

He does do a good Favre imitation though image

Really, I think he will be a good player, he just needs some time to develope and get accustomed to the "pro game"

After all, Aikman, Favre and many other excellent qb's didnt exactly set the world on fire their first years.
