Player registry Questions

I was thinking about requesting a player set registry for one of my favorite Qb's that ever played(Phil Simms). If I requested the player registry be started would I have to list all the cards that would be in it? And if so where would I find out such info?

Well you start off with sending them five PSA card serial numbers on their request form and then when it's added to their list they will request a checklist from you. I believe you can do a player search on beckett.com. I might be able to help you out when you need it. You will also have to decide if you want it to be a basic or master set. The only thing that sucks is the long wait!

They didn't ask me for a checklist when I requested a set. They just sent me an email saying that it was done. I figure they do some of the research themselves, but it doesn't look like they always get everything in the first shot.

Anything past the players retirement date is not allowed in a player set registry, Right?

How bout the extremely low pop cards, Auto cards, and fabric cards ?

I just saw Simms on a list where you register players and sets to be added to the registry, Does this mean he is in the process of being added ?

This is correct. All I did for my Butler registry was request that he be added. They took care of the rest. I didn't have to wait a year, but it was quite a long time.

But, if you put in your request too it will speed up the process. I believe that's what happened with a couple of other player set collectors.

Cards can only be from the players playing years. Once they get to your request, the ladies will email you a spreadsheet with the cards that they think are to be in the set based on the PSA database. If the card has not been graded yet it probably wont show up the list to start with. You can speed things up by helping weight the set. Its still a matter of how long it takes them to process all the stuff everyone is always sending them. You will be competeing with everyone else that wants to add cards to exisiting sets, invalid cert numbers and other requests. They hope to have new software soon that will help them speed up the process with some of their work.

Well when I added my Brewers and Bucks team sets I had to provide them with a checklist. Not sure if they asked to speed up the process or since then things have changed but I had to do it. Since it was the lovely Cosetta asking I didn't mind one bit!

Since it sounds like there are problems when a player set first goes live, maybe providing a listing of the players cards (both basic and master) may help them get the information correct the first time. Plus it might also speed up the process.

I requested a Simms basic and master set around 5 months ago. Not sure if my request was the only one but I dont think it matters how many people do, it seems to be in order of the first received as far as the waiting list.

Its been so long that I forget if I provided a list or not.

I also requested a Gossage set even longer ago than the Simms and provided a list for that. Even with the list Im still waiting over 6 months and it hasnt gone live yet.

I really think that the registry and the LONG delays with adding things really does need to be addressed. I mean waiting months and months seems a bit whacky to me. Not sure why it's so tough to get this stuff done.
