Just out of curiosity, what is the giveaway that this is indeed GCL (other than asking questions about gold coins, which I imagine other people do as well...)

Are you sure it's him. IIRC, he had his sovereign slabbed to prove to himself its authenticity and got AU details for the scratch he inflicted trying to remove a copper spotting.

GCL sold many coins to get the St. Gaudens, which he drove many of us nuts about. He had a 10 francs piece of that same year, that same Indian gold (even the year), and even that two peso. I'm not 100% certain, but i'd wager a wooden nickel on it
Also, he broke his uncirculated St. Gaudens out of its PCGS slab because he felt a bit paranoid about its authenticity.
