Mastro Auction

That 34 Greenberg PSA 10 rookie is friggin sweet! EO

  • It's a monster card......but I would have guessed maybe $30-40-50 k. I'd take the mint 9 '33 Goudeys, the mint 9 National Chicles and those rare '33 Goudey low numbers for that price.

I thought this Ruth photo was really cool...

live each day like it's your last but don't count on it!
  • I missed the Greenberg, stopped bidding at $40K or so...but I won the 71 Rose 9, 62 Jimmy Brown 9, and 54 Kaline rookie 9. All in all not too bad.

That Greenberg certainly was phenomenal - but I can't believe anyone would have guessed it would have ended nearly $80k, with vig. Is that to one of the noted [deep pocket] Jewish collectors, anyone know?
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.
  • Who bid and what did you win on some of the Mastro auctions?

won the '70 BB Rack with Clemente on top and the '72 BB Rack with Fisk rookie on top. Was outbid on the '69 BB 6 wax pack tray and the '60 BB rack pack. Nice stuff to say the least.
  • I got outbid on 1952 Topps High Number PSA 7 and Pafko PSA 7

If anyone won the high number PSA 7's and want to sell a few, please email me

Manny , nice pickup on the fisk rack, very nice. what do you think of the prices on larry's 60 rack and 69 tray? I thought they went pretty low myself , he can't be too happy with those results and I am sure he had to pay some sellers commission.

Used to working on HOF SS Baseballs--Now just '67 Sox Stickers and anything Boston related.

    Whoops.

Won the Schalk ball, but had bid on nearly a dozen of the single signed Hall of Famers. Some of those prices went above and beyond what I anticpated.

Duncan--just got around to seeing your last post. I was low bidder on the '69 wax tray--a sweet item that I really wanted. But I had spent too much on STUPID purchases in the last Mastro auction, so had to cap it at just under what the tray went for. Ditto on the '60 rack, was underbidder on that one also. Sicne I have the '60 Yaz rack, I was not that disappointed.

Speaking of disappointed--yes, he must be very disappointed. I would not have consigned those 2 to Mastro...would 1st have tried to sell it privately, and then chosen 1 of the other auction houses where it would have been a star item.
