Piazza to the A's

Well they let Thomas go and Get Piazza to be the full time DH. This should extend his career a bit and be tough to deal with from a Halos perspective.
Looking for a Glen Rice Inkredible and Alex Rodriguez cards

For the first time Mike has nothing to worry about but hitting the ball. That he can do. I don't like the DH, never have, but the game is what it is. In the AL anyway ....... good luck to Mike Piazza.

Piazza will always be a superstar in my eyes, and he will certainly be a first ballot HOFer when he is done playing. I agree with soft--I think the rigors of catching affected his hitting during his last couple of seasons in NY (of course, there was also that ill-advised "experiment" at 1B), and I think he can still whack a baseball better than most if that's all he's being paid to do.

He is also a great guy. My son at age 11 would babysit in the same apartment bldg where Mike lived. Mike would always share a story and an auto. kid must have a few laying around.

Jeter by the way lived nearby and the kids would get his auto too.

both are class acts and were very nice to the children.

    Good for you.
  • The real question is: do you think he will put up the kind of numbers that Frank Thomas can put up?

I say no. If Piazza hits 20 homers it will be somewhat of a miracle.

If i have to have an old, crippled veteran I'd take the big hurt image

I still can't believe he finished second to Walker in the MVP voting for the '97 season.
