A newbies opinion on PCGS

I just wanted to add my 2 cents to this discussion about the forum.
I,for one, want to thank PCGS for having this forum online. I discovered it on a Google search a few months ago and have learned so much about my new hobby ( obession) from reading the forums and have met online some very nice people. I can understand why they dont want people bashing them on their own forum. If you have a problem with their service, call them. Thats why PCGS has a customer service line.
I realize this post isnt actually coin related and if its off topic enough to get me bammed then so be it.

Again I want to extend my thanks to PCGS (and the nice people on here) just for the chance to learn so much about coins and the hobby in general.

Yes, it's a nice place, comic. Coins are cool and there are many brilliant people who freely share knowledge here. Some like to preach doom, but keep the faith image
  • I agree that they will NOT turn them (message boards) off. They need us more than we need them.

plus "The customer is always right."

    Who is John Galt?
  • This forum is a wonderful place and to lose it would definitely be a loss to us all in the numismatic community.. image

    Huh?

How could you possibly think that PCGS needs this forum? Granted, it can bring in a lot of customers but PCGS started in 86 and this board didn't come around until much much later.

Just because you post here does not make you a PCGS customer.

I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

  • it is amazing how all the sour pusses in the past few days have all suddenly seem like they swallowed sunshine and rainbows...

It's all distressing to see some quality people/posters saying that they are leaving.

I also would contend that this forum makes money and generates interest in the company, product and TPG in general.

Honest debate, reasonable discussion et. al. shouldnt be silenced, it should be encouraged.

I'm glad you are here, comic. You will help to make this a better place.
  • Speaking for myself as a **COIN COLLECTOR** 1st

I have _NO desire to spend $$$$ on coins entomed in plastic ! PCGS or whomever.

But when I buy a coin that I would consider "expensive" I want to authenticate the coin... Then the ANA is adequate for my needs...

To hell with it's "grade", I'm buying it because I _Like it.

Why line the pockets of some slabbing gurus who'll be history in 10 years ?!
  • ..who'll be history in 10yrs.. PCGS will not be history in 10yrs or 100, if it were not for them this discussion board would not exist...GET IT image
  • Your right on the money. Actually the decision to ban a few whiners was brilliant! Whiners have one job in life...whining. Whio needs them. I noticed about 4 or 5 of the banished wasted no time in moving over to the NGC forums to continue their preaching. Right now they are wearing their banishment as a badge of honer. All the sheep over there are welcoming them with open arms. Wait a month, and watch, they will be bashing their new home soon enough. They will bash NGC just like they did PCGS. PCGS reminds me of Cuba, when they loaded all their criminals up in boats and sent them here. NGC must be very concerned that their forums will now be polluted with these worthless complainers! Good ridance. I will stay here as long as they do not ban smoking!
