The reverse design (on the left) was adapted from a PPIE poster printed in 1914. I forget who designed the poster although the style is similar to John Flanagan's. (See the PPIE Award Medal design by Flanagan.)
See? I look at tremendous medals such as this one and scratch my head in disbelief that we must all live with the current (lack of) designs offered in our State quarters program.

Art is not dead in America, despite all numismatic evidence to the contrary. Art is merely dead at the Mint. The Mint needs to hire some Real Artists™ and tell Congress and all their committees to STFU.

The medal is white metal, and the carrying case is made of brass. Pinches made these as a compliment to the Type III HK-8 Crystal Palace So Called Dollar, which they produced as well.
