Unfortunately there are enough a-holes over there to blow this forum out of the water too. It's just a matter of time I'm afraid. Been nice knowing you.
As an aside, would I sound really, really naive and stupid if I said I wasn't even aware that this board was owned, operated, paid for and under the control of PCGS? Not that it makes much difference to me...

In the event that this forum is shut down (and I believe the handwriting is on the wall), Wayne's forum might be a good place to get together and plan where to set up the Neo-Darkside.

I for one would be interested.

Looks like I'll have a home for World Coins afterall.
Really shutting the boards down will hurt PCGS more than help. Get a couple new moderators and start dishing out the warnings. Jumping the gun and going straight to shutting down the board doesn't seem reasonable.

I have not read the boards for a few days. It's amazing what can happen when one's away. If I ever get banned, you can always find me "across the street". I may try to get on Wayne's forum as well.
I's unforunate that we won't likely see any more posts by Conder101. That guy's like a walking numismatic history library. He contributed many, many informative and interesting posts.
so how do you archive threads? Even though I haven't been posting lately I have a boatload of Goetz posts I'd like to save to coin pics website. Any clues? S
<< <i>so how do you archive threads? Even though I haven't been posting lately I have a boatload of Goetz posts I'd like to save to coin pics website. Any clues? S >>
popping in for a sec....didn't coinguy89 do an archived/linked thread on your Goetz?
My apologies, it was CoinAddict that did that yeoman task......
I'll try to put it simply. I rarely ever visit the Liteside, and if I do, it's only when this forum is too slow and I go to the today page to look at the most popular threads. But I can understand the frustration of the people involved.
On the other hand, if this forum disappears, it will be a terrible blow for me and probably for a lot of others. Most of the oldtimers already know, that if it wasn't for the Darkside, I would have already abandonned this hobby for good. But the wonderful atmosphere, the great people that I've met, online and in person, have renewed my interest, taught me more things than I had learned in all the previous years together and not only managed to keep me going, but in the end, I want to believe that it even made me a better person, mostly by recognizing several mistakes that I've said and done. This place showed me that the hobby hasn't become just unhealthy competition, show off,and hits below the belt just in order to own more and better coins. I actually have reached a point that I practically despise permanent ownership. I have long left these games and attitude to those who enjoy them. The way I see it, maybe because this place is so dear to me, my secret heaven on the net, all efforts to replace it in case it disappears, are very honourable but I'm afraid that it won't be the same, there must be a reason why not even the forum across the street hasn't been able to take off during all these years.
Well, I'm an optimistic person by nature, and I'm hoping for the best. I truly believe that we represent the best of these boards, even if the place is not as lively as others, and that someone must recognize this and let us keep our little trouble free community. But if their ultimate decision would be to close it down, I'm at least greatful that I've had the chance to meet all of you ,to see so many beautiful coins, to learn so many valuable lessons, to read so many great posts, and I'm certain that I will stay in touch at least with the ones that I'm somewhat more close, such as the ones that I've shared my 17000+ PMs so far.Just in case, a big thanks to all of you.
PS: Coinpictures, thanks for the honour of nominating me as a potential mod, but what a crazy idea, I wouldn't even nominate myself in a forum of my own,I'm way too immature for that.
Well, I'm an optimistic person by nature, and I'm hoping for the best. I think you'll be rewarded.
Remember-these forums are PCGS's window to the world. It's a unique model for communication between the company, the customer, and the hobbyist. I can't imagine for a moment why PCGS wouldn't encourage complete openness. A strong, strong moderator (homme fort) would have solved this long ago. Interject one or two ombudsmen into the forums, a little humor, a little wit, what the hey?
What is the cost? It can't be extreme-others are offering to take up the slack.
Always wait for at least two days before uttering (and/or posting) anything in anger.

The banning of good people seems much worse to me than simply some occassional editing....

Just now read this, it would be sad to loose the use of the forum, but you can't be biting the hand that feeds you, greivances should be handled privately.

Good thing ICG doesn't have a board. It would have about 100 members with one being myself with those types of rules!
Sad to see it come to this. I see a lot of knowledgable people being banned or quitting.

I believe they had one. I think it suffered from the exact same symptoms you've described.

hopefully Hall intended the message as a wake up call for some, and it came out a little more heavy handed than he intended.
