Can anyone read this writing (PSA returned N-9)

Hi all

I sent in my 1887 college football ticket ( Harvard vs Princeton ) to be graded.

The scan is how it came back. N-9

The grader wrote something on one of the labels. It looks to me like maybe "no examplay"

Do you think it was to obscure and he was saying, "no examples"

  • I believe it says "no examples" which may mean he has nothing to compare it to to see if its authentic ?
  • Very nice piece. I've seen similar Harvard items displayed at a restaurant in Mass.

"No Exemplars" which just means they either don't know what it is or have anything to compare it to. Or they just may not holder it, but the fact they put "No Exemplars" instead of "No Holder Available" leads me to believe they just have nothing to compare it to.

Thats kind of a shame, because if you have a one of one (hate to use the expression), or extremely rare ticket, they won't be able to grade it because they have nothing to compare it to? Sheesh..........

    Hi Lee

How about considering emailing some of the big auction houses to see if anyone has any info on the tick?

If they can give it the thumbs up - perhaps you can, then, contact PSA for reconsideration?

I don't know why they put "no holder" when it appears that they didn't authenticate it because they're clueless?

    Good luck

  • Perhaps they should photo copy that fine speciman so they will have some "exemplars."

At one time, I'm certain they had "no exemplars' for the T-206 Wagner, either.

PSA may be getting a little big for their britches.

As i was thinking about this further----If there was only one T206 Honus Wagner card in existence, they wouldn't grade it because there are no other examples?????

In that case, they would have other T206s to compare it with.

I've had PSA grade a small set which they had never seen before (1971 ORIOLES CHAMPIONS) and could not have had anything to compare to. As of now, all 16 cards are still 1 of 1's.

Any high grade OPC Jim Palmer
    High grade Redskins (pre 1980)
  • I've done that with GAI. I had to show proof (articles, pics) that the versions I had of Bill Ripken were real. So around 6 cards are now graded by them with my help. Im special.

  • I believe it means that this card is the only one, and there cannot be another example (now or ever), so it wasnt slabbed ----NO EXAMPLAR.....its like you sending them a ticker you made for your backyard wiffle ball game, there is not going to be another made (unique) so there is no label to give this item and it is undefinable....PSA slabs catalogueable (sp) items, not just anything....
  • I have seen the ticket before. I tried looking in my older catalogs (i.e. Jerry Smolin, Oregon Trail, Mastro and Steinbach) but couldnt find it. I have quite a few more to look through and know I will find it in one of them since that is the only place I could have seen it........
