Collectorsinternet.com

Does anyone have any current information on collectorsinternet.com? I read a report by the Better Business Bureau, which gives this company an F, the lowest rating possible. When I contacted the company about this rating, I received an email from Willis Brown, claiming that they have a near perfect record and that only a few people have complained. What I like about this compny, is that they sell raw coins at very low prices. What I don't like, is the fact that the BBB gives them an F, and that they will not accept credit cards. I wrote back to Willis Brown, and he told me that they don't accept credit cards because of fraud. It would seem to me that there would be more of a possibility of fraud with checks. Also, I read somewhere that Willis Brown also goes by another name, Chris Aable. When I asked him about this, he said that Chris Aable no longer works for the company. If indeed, they are one and the same person, something fishy is going on. I think I'll steer clear of this company unless someone can verify that they are legitimate. Thanks in advance.

    Maybe this will help:

a few threads on the subject

Their web site says that they have (8) 1823 quarters and (6) 1827 quarters in stock......1 in each grade. Yeaaaaaaaaah. Sure. I wonder if the Easter Bunny takes the phone orders. Or maybe it is Santa......
  • Thanks for the link, but it doesn't work. I just get an error message. I remember reading bad things about this company and was looking for an update from anyone who has had recent experience with them. "Their web site says that they have (8) 1823 quarters and (6) 1827 quarters in stock......1 in each grade." Maybe they're in the counterfeit business? The website says that they don't have time to take phone calls. I figure they must be too busy making all those counterfeit coins to have time to talk on the phone. Just kidding, but there does seem to be something that's not legitimate about this company.

    link 1

    Link 2

I don't have any experience in dealing with them. Others have and you can read about it above. I emailed Willis about selling me a few 1823 quarters, but the email got bounced back as undeliverable.
  • Thanks. This time the links work. I just sent my check in for the (8) 1823 quarters and (6) 1827 quarters. They go all the way up to MS70. LOL.

They have listed on their site 1817/4 half dollars in eight different grades. There are a total of 8 known coins, most of which are in name collections, mostly owned by the Bust Half nuts. So I really doubt they have what they say they have.

An authorized PCGS dealer, and a contributor to the Red Book.

  • I'll say this--2 purchases and 2 returns. The second return was a problem coin and the problem was not disclosed at time of purchase. It was graded by CCGS.

As a science project, I brought said problem coin with me to the most recent Long Beach show to see if anyone would offer me money for it. No bids at all so I sent it right back.
  • Their inventory would shame the Eliasberg collection. You send your money in then wait 2 months or so while they hunt them up.To cut it short, overgraded, overpriced junk.If you complain about hairlines, Willis says any coin will look lousy in a certain light.
There is no walk in business, and they say everything is in a vault. It wouldn't surprize me if their business was a little hole in the wall office.
I read that at one time they were on Ebay, but they probably got so many negatives, they left.

    AVOIDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
