Gil Meche? Royals fork over 55 million for a mid-level pitcher. They finally start spending money and this is what they spend it on? I love what Dayton Moore has been doing, and I hope that he knows something that I don't (which is quite probable), but this seems the exact opposite strategy that he has been employing since last spring. It just doesn't seem to fit, and I could think of much better players they could have landed with that money.

Royals sign Gil Meche

  • I'm glad my Blue Jays lost out on Meche. I actually think he has the potential to be a solid 13 to 15 win guy, but $11 million a season is too much. Although, I think the Meche deal is better than the Lilly deal for the Cubs.

You are absolutely right but if you want pitching, which every team does, you are going to pay an inflated number.
So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts

$11 million annually for Meche? Dang! What the heck should Matsuzaka expect now...$20 million a year?
