Anybody want to speculate on why upper middle class Caucasions are so preoccupied with urban slang?
Speaking for myself, I grew up in an upper middle class part of LA with lots of upper middle class caucasions (except for Gary Coleman who lived around the corner) but went to school in central LA which was extremely diverse and I was fascinated with the urban culture. You listen to the music enough it becomes your favorite and then you can't get rid of the beat or the lingo. Then they make movies like Menace and you watch them over and over and over... just like the guys in the movie did with the video from the Korean store they robbed! Now I am upper middle class and love to get into my upper middle class car, drive to my upper middle class 'hood, go hide behind my upper middle class gated community and bump the beatz the whole way home!
i listened to public radio yesterday and this guy gave a musical critique of "Crunk Hits vol 2" that just hit the streets this week. the guys was a music critique for Rolling Stone also. He spoke about each song on the Crunk Kits cd and talked about Lil' John and some other rapper from new orleans..
he really liked the lyrics, "you're phony, i grew up in the ghetto on crackers and baloney..." (or something like this i don't know the music..)
anyways, he was really positive about the overall message in the music, despite some obvious major setbacks towards the proper treatment of women and annuciation of YEEEAHHH by Lil' John.
he was a 64 year old white man that claimed to listen to lots of hip hop and be fascinated w/ the music and culture..
A I sucks. I can't wait till he is gone for good. That guy is all about ME ME ME ME and gettin' his points and his money. Who cares about the team? He should have been out of Philly a loooooooooooonnnng time ago. A I sucks. chaz

As Carlin puts in, "...you are white and you are lame."
Couldn't agree more.
Perhaps the Caucasians to whom you refer, Boo, are simply tired of the King's English. Or the Queen's, for that matter.
