Any ideas what Topps will do next?
Any ideas what Topps will do next as far as vintage style cards. We already have the Heritage, which I love. We have had the Topps T206, Topps Cracker Jacks, Topps Turkey Rd, Topps Allen and Ginter's (am I missing any?). What's next? Topps Old Judge maybe?

You forgot the T205's. They did those in 2003. Old Judge or Goodwin & Co. would be good. If they could get the players to wear 19th century uniforms for the pictures that would be cool too! I doubt they will do the '33 Goudey's because I think Fleer or UD did something with those in the late 90's.

A RedMan set would be cool, too.

Topps is still profitable but the numbers decline every year. There was a little boost this year in the card biz, probably due to the strength of the 2006 baseball season and strong football draft class. The problem with Topps is that they are under pressure to grow sales in a hobby that is contracting. That forces management to make short term decisions that may not be in the best interests of the hobby.
I can't believe Upper Deck is doing any better than Topps. While Upper Deck may do better in the hobby, I see more Topps products on the shelves of the mass retailers.
I can see Topps selling the candy business and taking the card business private again. Old Man Shorin still has over 2 million shares and nothing better to do with his time.
