  • That is actually a very nice close-up for regular old Macro mode.

My question exactly. If you can get me a Canon A430 for seventy bucks, we can deal. Otherwise, I refer you to Mr Jillette:

    Canon A430 on eBay = about $125

    QX5 on eBay = about $80

You can do a lot more with the Canon tho.

Beheheh.... I think you need to add "Curmudgeon" to your list of titles, Bob.

I also agree with you and Mike (Conder), a digital camera can't beat the bang you get from the QX5 for the buck. Instead of paying several hundred for a high-end camera, I have my $140 FinePix, my $50 QX3, and another $40 in OTT lights. I may not know entirely what I'm doing with any of them yet, but for the money I'm very pleased with the results so far.

    Good call! Done and done.

That said, the Canon does seem a lot less expensive than I thought it would be. Sounds like a pretty good camera; may have to check it out sometime.

Actually, if I do see a QX3 or QX5 for the "right price", I'd probably pick one up, too, for the SUPER close stuff. But except for that, the A430 is a really good camera.

  • If the camera can actually be picked up for the price quoted, then I withdraw my objection. In fact I'll have to start looking for one.
