shipping and storing a bat

How would you ship a very expensive autographed bat to psa/dna? I don't mean what type of shipping service, but how would you package it so it arrives safely?

After getting it back how would you store it?

I was think about using one of those large vacuum seal bags to preserve it and keep it water proof. What do you guys think about that idea.

It is a brown bat and all the signatures are in gold paint marker. This is an item I will be keeping in a closet, put away for many years.

Thanks!

  • I just keep my higher end signed bats in bat tubes. Game used I just stack wherever. I have never had a problem using bat tubes inside of the trianglular priority mail boxes. The bat you describe sounds like a World Series commemorative bat. Are the sigs real?
  • It is a 500 home run bat and yes all sigs are real.

That's how I keep all of my bats. I'm a little more cautious with my HOF one, so I use a spare sock (one of those old school long ones) on the tube where the signatures are. Sure, it looks a little funny but I don't have it out for display. Signatures can fade after long exposure to light and I don't want to take the chance.
So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts

It's so funny that you say that because that is exactly what I am using now. A long red and yellow tube sock over the bat in a bat tube...very funny, I'm not the only one!!!

Having been around some major leaguers when they are trading bats they use one of the white sanitary socks that go under their baseball stirrups. these socks stretch long enough to cover the whole bat and they just tie a knot at the end.
I am on a budget and I am not afraid to use it!!
