You hit the home run with a Rev PF 70 silver eagle - even if its only $3-$4K - sell, or hold?

claychaserclaychaser Posts: 4,406 ✭✭✭✭
We all say the price rise and fall on ebay to over $5K, and BST offers to buy in the 4's.

For those of us that do the modern stuff in order to subsidize out bust and early copper addictions, do we sell now and buy say a nice 63+ bust dime, or hold out for proof trade dollar or MS fugio cent money?

  • I'm not a fan of modern stuff, but with the money people are spending I may as well jump on to support my classic habits. The only thing I look at is the money being spent now and more and more being graded that high everyday. The laws of supply and demand will eventually catch up and the price goes down. I am not an investment advisor, but if they were mine I would get it, while the gettin is good.

Not to mention I see posts here almost every other day of people so excited they got their grades back. I know I saw a couple of rev pf today come back 70 posted here.

  • Well follow the money. If people are willing to pay $5k for a pop 177 coin, so be it. I remember a recent post that was saying they couldn't believe Stewart Blay paid $5k for a pop 12 (1953-d Lincoln). Me if I had to spend it, Stewart made my choice. How many more 53-d's will be made in 67rd? How many more rev pf's will be made? Supply and demand plus frenzy = someone loses.

How many people are out there able to hoard $5,000 coins in any quanity. A few, but as more and more are made, thats a lot of money to shell out to keep demand up.

That 177 pop will be well over 1000 over time...6.5% of all coins graded are 70's so far....there will be many more in the months ahead.

If your sharp about it, you coudl sell now, and buy back cheaper later.

They aren't. The coins are going begging at less than $3k now. A few more months and it'll be less than $1k.

Sell 70s, hold sets in mint packaging if not sending them in for grading.

You're kidding me, Russ, aren't you? You actually think that the Reverse PF coins will be selling for less than $1000???

I actually think that there is more chance of gold selling for more than $1000/oz. than for the Rev PF selling for less than $1000.

    So there!!
