Vintage NFL Pennants - Help! (Even more pictures added)

I have 27 of these small NFL pennants. I just acquired them from a man locally in a collection of other sports stuff. Anyway, he grew up in the early to late 1970's. I suspect these pennants are from that time period. There are no dates on them. (Imageshack is down by the way or I would post an image directly into this post). The dimensions are 11 3/4" x 4 3/4". Please check out the picture link below. Any info would be appreciated.

Edited to say: Imageshack is back up. Here it is.

I have seen them in many basements here in the midwest. Seem to be rather popular here.

Any idea as to exact what they are (ie year produced)? Would they be in the SCD football catalog? I know a bunch of baseball pennants are in the baseball SCD catalog. I would kind of like to know their value. I plan on listing them on Ebay. I just don't know whether or not to list them as a lot, or each individually. I would also like to know if the set is complete.

If I was you, I would search ebay and see if you can find any similar pennants. I found a Cardinals pennant on ebay identical to one I have. I now know that my pennant is from 1969.

  • Judging from the NFL logo and the font in "Colts" I would say it is from the late 70's or early 80's (just before the move in 1983). I'll keep checking. image

  • Now I'm a little confused. The inclusion of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Pennant would definately point to the late 70's since their first season was 1976. However, the logo on the Denver Bronco's pennant wasn't in use after 1967 and the Lions logo stopped in 1969. I think they may be part of some throwback issue as the logo's that are used are all over the 60's and 70's. Also, from 1982 - 1994, the Raiders were in LA and the Rams stopped using that logo in 1981. So if they aren't part of a throwback issue, that would put them between 1976 and 1981. I'll keep digging.

Bottom line not that you asked, I bet they are in total worth about $10. Just a guess.

I had a few of these. I believe the year is 1977.

They were basically in discount stores (Walmart) at the time.

    Loves me some shiny!

Actually, I did ask about their value. Thanks for the info. Any more would still be appreciated.
