What's the worst 09 S VDB you have?

I have a 12 year old autistic son who has put a collection of Lincoln Cents together. I would bring home bags of Junk Wheats for him to sort through to fill his album. When it got down to to the tough ones, I would salt a bag and give him the thrill of finding them. I had been on the lookout for a 09 S VDB that I could get cheap. One of the better known dealers in the east knew about this and found this one for me. Under 10X, you can make out the VDB. It appears to have been buried for some time and then cleaned with steel wool, but it fills the hole for a special kid. Anybody want to guess the price??

  • I would guess around $100, but he could have been a great guy and friend and given it to your son.image

  • You can see the V in VDB on the rim, at about 6:30 from the dark purple spot. Look hard!

It took some imagination, but now that I know where to look, it's easy to see the V

I can see something that looks like a V. It is hard to tell if it just a scratch in the shape of a V or if it a V on the coin.

I'm sort of hard-pressed to see a VDB as well. I suppose it looks better "in hand". I'd say $100.

edited to add: BTW...this one is better than mine...I don't have one!!! image

I would guess under $100. Remember the post the other day on how many S-VDB's were still around- some said not many were lost ...
  • my guess is that he gave it you for free since he was such a nice guy image
  • If the dealer charged you anything for your autistic son to have this coin, I'd change dealers. image

I would say $100. The only thing I have about the coin is the unusually strong MM compared w/ the surrounding detail.
If you could get a close up pic of the MM, then we could know if it's a real 09-S VDB or just a VDB.

I actually had one at one time that looked MUCH worse if you can believe that!

I bought it probably 12 years ago or so when I first got back into collecting.....140.00 I think I paid. I sold it a few years back on ebay. It went over 300.00!!

Imagination my azz! You gotta be smokin' crack to see a "V", much less say it's easy to see it!

I think it depends on how much business your dealer does. If he does enough, he might've given it to you for free. I'd go with the crowd and say $100, though.
If you haven't noticed, I'm single and miserable and I've got four albums of bitching about it that I would offer as proof.

Right now, the worst I have is a PQ PCGS 63BN. The worst I've ever had was either a problem free F12 or a porous with light corrosion VF30.
