How accurate are Stack's estimates in their Coin Galleries Auctions?

I was taking a look at the recent Stack's Coin Galleries auction catalog. There seems to be a lot of interesting, historic, foreign material in this sale. Although I don't collect darkside, I noticed how reasonable some of the estimated values were, especially for some attractive looking, big coins from various countries.

Does anyone know how accurate these estimated prices are?

Also, is there a quick and easy reference guide that covers darkside material, similar to the Redbook (other than that mamouth guide by Krause)?

I think the only guides are the set of Krause doorstops that you referred to.
