A coin investor friend of mine was offered this coin for 25K...

It's graded PCGS PR 66. What should he tell the seller?

I would assume you meant 2500 instead of the post 25000

Would say no to both way overpriced ... only worth on a good day 2000
NGC's can be had for 1000

Not a great investment for a coin investor. Further, if a coin investor needs to ask about that one, he probably should not be investing in coins.

  • The phrase "Go pound sand" pops to mind. It's a fairly available coin in PCGS plastic with no particular premium. They generally realize less than $1000.00 at auction.

Andy, first, I'd want to verify that there wasn't a misunderstanding. It's almost impossible to imagine otherwise. If there wasn't, please tell us the dealer's name, but don't call him a "wannabe" or say anything about him that isn't factual.image

Ah yes, very good. Don't you need to examine the edge to confirm that or is there another diagnostic?
