Contradictory musings on type and Kennedy's

Item one: Me thinks the type collectors have it right. It seems onerous to chase down each and every coin issued in a series because it takes up a lot of room (except the classic half eagles 'cause there are only7 of those), and when you are done, you are done...except for some upgrading.

Item two: There were no "S" Kennedy halves expept for a '76 silver issue. My book is half full of circulated Kennedy halves but there is no space for the "S" so I'm gonna blow it off. That's the nice thing about this series...you can get most all of them from your bank for no premium.

So, here is the obvious contradiction...type guys have it right, Kennedy sets are cool, coin collecting requires strange logic. Happy Monday

    Unless you count proofs...

I count only three Kennedy halves for my "type" collection: 90% Silver, 40% Silver, and CuNi Clad.

I have a separate collection of "circulating" commemoratives that includes the two bicentennial types (CuNi clad and Silver clad).

So that puts five Kennedys into my collection -- which is about three too many, but what're ya gonna do...

type set collecting is fun, and you are right, when you are done, you are done...except for upgrading -- and there is always room for upgrading, so you are really not done.
