The first thing you need to do is put your pics somewhere online (e.g., photobucket or snapfish). Then you click the image icon (the icon next to the U) and copy the URL of your image into that box.
That will do it.
If you haven't noticed, I'm single and miserable and I've got four albums of bitching about it that I would offer as proof.
"Paper clips" come from attaching a file to the post. This is a way to post an image (just reference the attached file), but it does add the "paper clip" at the end of your post.
To avoid it---> simply reference an image file name on a server other than this one. This would mean you'd have to have some way to store files besides here. Check with your ISP. Most allow you several megabytes of file storage.
Using the URL (web address) of your image, you can add IMG tags to it, like so:
The part I showed in red is where your URL will go. The black part is the opening and closing tags. You may type them or just use the Image tool available on the toolbar when you are in Message Post mode:
If you are unsure of how to find the web address of your picture, open the picture, hold your cursor over it, right click, select "Properties", and you should be able to find it there.

That can be helpful working out all the kinks.
Hope that helps.
